But we can use various fabric types to punch needles and choose or needle by considering the fabric. If you have a material that has dense weaves, then you will need thinner needles and yarn so that your stitches stay in the textile and don’t harm the fabric.
Can you punch needle on a sweatshirt?
You can punch a needle on any cotton or poly-blended sweatshirt. I recommend you choose your punching needle according to the sweatshirt fabric so that while you are punching, you wouldn’t harm the sweatshirt. Don’t forget to flip it over and work on the back side of the shirt! Can you punch needle on a tote bag?

The shirt’s fabric is linen, which would be perfect for punch needling and cotton. Even if you have a t-shirt with a fabric you can not punch on, don’t forget that you can still punch a needle on a monk’s Cloth and just glue the design on your shirt.
Can you punch needle on slippers?
It is not common to see a punch design on slippers, but believe me, it is possible! It might be hard to find a slipper with a fabric you can punch on, and you probably will need to rip the fabric off so that you can stretch on a frame to punch it easier. But you can work on your material, and after that, you can glue the design to your slippers and have super fancy, unique slippers. This might be a good solution for the old non-used slipper to return to life.
